Human Papillomavirus

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STD),Over 90 different types of HPV have been identified and fully sequenced, and There are about 40 types of HPV that can infect the genitals and reproductive organs of men and women. HPV infection is by far the most significant risk factor for cervical cancer.  Relative risks usually exceed 100 in case control studies and are usually in the range of 10 to 20 in prospective studies (REF). 


How Do I Keep From Getting Human papillomavirus 
Here are some strategies to reduce your chances of getting HPV
  • Having sex with only one partner who only has sex with you (mutual monogamy) 
  • HPV vaccine is recommended for women and men under 26 years old 
  • Using condoms is an excellent prevention strategy for HPV or other sexually transmitted infections

How to Cure Human Papillomavirus



  •  Cryotherapy. This involves freezing the abnormal cells with liquid nitrogen.
  •  Conization. This procedure, also known as a cone biopsy, removes the abnormal areas.
  •  LEEP or Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure. The abnormal cells are removed with an electrical current.
  • Visible warts can be removed with medications that you can apply yourself, or with treatments performed by a healthcare provider. Once you have been diagnosed with HPV, it’s important to get frequent check-ups to make sure the abnormal cells do not come back.
